Well, I'm just gonna say this once so...
if you hate spoilers, then just don't read this blog, cos I'm gonna diseccionate a movie...
I love watching what I call 'toxic movies' which is anything 'teen-movie' flavored, in any way. Recently I've had a few good ones -yeah I'm a Lindsay Lohan fan, love Moly Ringwald, and anything American Pie alike, but I really love is 1990's bizarre teen or college movies-. I think that since PCU I hadn't watch something as bizarre and clever as this:
This movie is really funny, in a cruel way, but it trully face cruel reallity with the USA's college educational system. Whatever Kanye West's was saying on his debut album, 'College Droupout', can be applied into this movie.
So we've got the situation:
Kid is graduating, he's gotta go to college, cos that seems a political corret way (LMAO, PCU) of American Life. Well, what happens when you don't get accepted to any college?
I know that seems impossible, there's always a place you can go to, but what if any University accepts you?
That's what happens to B, the main role of this movie, his kinda the smart-bad guy of high school, half NERD, half Cool, but his CV doesn't get him into ANY college, and that, OMG, disapoints his parents.
When parents should be supporting their kids no matter what, they trully let him down by showing how decieved they are for him not making into college despite his hard efforts to apply. He should had 'start in Junior High, just like your sister' they say to the poor boy.
So he decides to fake a college mail application accepted to make his parents happy. Cheated, but happy. And, well, here comes the unreal part of the movie, but what makes it funnier than any other teen-college movie since PCU, he gets to actually trick his parents by building a fake college website, and finding a fake college building...
He gets a crew, a nice team, made by his high school friends that got rejected from college:
-Rory (ironically named with the same name as Gilmore's kiddo), doesn't get into Yale, despite she's been getting ready since Junior High to apply to that University, and despite her marks.
-Hands looses his scholarship for sports by getting a serious injury in his leg.
-Glen is simply retarded but gifted in a funny way with food cooking...
-Schrader He's got into a good college, and he thinks he's gonna experience what he's been wanting to experience all his life, but B need his skills to trick his parents, and to create this fake college.
Let's keep on...
They do create a real college, but it's a college that legally doesn't exists, so they don't think that by creating this whole fantasy, someoen will actually fall in and think this is real...
well, that happens, loads of kids that have been rejected from other colleges, come to that college. You wonder, how?
Cos they made the site with a 'Acceptance is one click away' tool, and they actually accept more than 300 kids into that fake but real college. Ain't it funny?
when they find out all this kids' parents have paid for a one semester's tuition, here comes the non-dillemma...
Hands: 'Ok, Ok, Ok, We've gotta do something...'
Rory: 'Hey! Don't look at me ask one of the founding fathers...'
Hands: 'B?'
[looking at Schrader]
Schrader: 'This isn't my deal, Man! I told u this was a bad idea from the get go'
B:'True'
Glen: 'We can have a Battle Royal!'
LMAO! I can picture Kitano-san committing suicide by trying to explain to those kids the rules of game...
This movie has certaintly some good way-outs LOL! This is my favourite. But don't stop here, let's continue...
It happens that the fake college name is nothing but: South Harmon Institute of Technology. Yes, you read the right way... SHIT are the initials of this college: 'You wanna be a SHIT-head?' a nice but funny joke, that makes this movie even more hilarious.
Well I'm not gonna spoil it any longer, because I think from that point, is up-to-you guys to find out whether this fake college succeeds or not. But I guarantee that if you liked American Pie, Road Trip or you're a fan of what I call Toxic movies (well this is less romantic, more bizarre) such as PCU, then you'll enjoy whatching it. And even being this unreal, I love the finale.
